United Methodist Women NEWS
Over the last 150 years, our organization has had more than 25 names, each reflecting the varying times and the way we served in our predecessor denominations. The name ‘United Methodist Women’ was adopted in 1972, signaling a change not only in the life of the church, but in the lives of women and how they could organize for mission. We are again facing change in the life of the church, and our new name more accurately reflects who we are and how we choose to engage the world in faith.
We are not just women who happen to be United Methodists. We are women who are united by our faith in Jesus Christ to nourish our current members, attract new women into our sisterhood, and work out our faith by putting our love into action to change the world for the better, especially for women, children and youth.
While our name is new, our purpose remains the same. We are still the official women’s organization of the United Methodist Church. We remain the organization training women for leadership, growing spiritually, transforming through education, and providing opportunities for service and advocacy. We remain women in mission who follow God’s call for our time. Will you join with us as we journey forward with healing and joy?

Who can join United Women in Faith?
Any woman can join - no matter what age and you don't have to be a member of our church.
How do I join?
To join you just show up at one of our meetings.
Does it cost to join?
No there are no membership fees. We do have the opportunity to make pledges for the support of the work of United Women in Faith, but that is not required. Giving is encouraged, but optional (sort of like church)
When do we meet?
We have two circles - a night group and a day group. 1) The Night Circle meets on the first Tuesday night of the month at 7:00 pm (we are meeting at the home of Yvonne Powers). 2) The Day Circle meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 10:00 am in the Family Life Center. 3) We also have 6 combined meetings during the year on Saturdays at 10:00 am in the Family Life Center. In these meetings we conduct any business and also have special programs.
What Exactly is the United Women in Faith?
United Women in Faith is a mission-oriented organization. We contribute to programs all around the world that promote the well-being of women and children. We also are very involved in helping our local community. Many of our members work in the Food Pantry (the 3 coordinators are members). The programs sponsored by UWIF (with the support of the church) are giving out school supplies to children in the community, providing Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets to needy families - and providing the Carin' Angel Christmas presents for children of Food Pantry clients and others that may be in need. We also are involved in the fight against Human Trafficking, and we provide kits to the United Methodist Committee on Relief that they send to victims when disasters strike. This year our kits are school supplies.
We also promote education on social issues confronting us and try to find ways to make a difference.
Our Stated Purpose is: "United Women in Faith shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church." We try to live up to that. We are sisters, sharing our faith and encouraging each other, and working together to help others.
