John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish, but have eternal life.”
Love is good and our lives need more love in them. St. Valentine’s day is the day that is set aside to make that happen. So, who what Valentine and how did he get to sell so many cards and boxes of candy?
The honest answer is that we aren’t sure. There were many people named Valentine and the story gets confused. We know that he was a Jesus follower, a Bishop of the church in the Roman empire, and he was killed for his faith on February 14 around 300 CE.
Churches are named for him and lots of stories of how he helped persecuted Christians ae told of him. He wrote notes of encouragement, helped them get married and baptized, and took care of their families.
We remember him because he showed the love of Jesus and not for chocolates and coffee mugs. He knew how much God loves him and shared it to his breath to others who needed it.
Tell your own story by loving others. You may not get your own holiday like Valentine but you can be remembered by the people that matter the most. Simply love them like Jesus does. Show those around you in both big and small ways that you love them
Jesus gave it all for us. Give your all for your loved ones. “Love never fails”. You matter the most when you show and share the love of Christ.
All for Christ,
Pastor Alan
Children's Ministry
This past month, our children had the opportunity to lead the church in saying the Lord's Prayer which they have been learning during their Sunday School class. They did a fantastic job!
In the next few weeks, we will be practicing for a little Easter musical and getting prepared for the Easter season, remembering and celebrating Christ's death and resurrection!
Join us for Children's Church during the worship service at 10:00am (we start in the sanctuary and leave together after the children's message), Sunday School at 9:00am or Wednesday Night Bible Study at 6:30pm (come at 6pm to share a family meal with the church).

Prayer Ministry
In Philippians 4 , verses 6 and 7, we read
6 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Join us on February 13 and February 27 at 5:00 p.m. on Zoom for a time to share our faith with each other that we may pray together in thankfulness our deep desires and needs, reassuring each other of the peace that comes from taking our needs to God. In January, we were privileged to hear a testimony in our Zoom meeting about how someone brought peace by showing God’s love. The Zoom link for each meeting will be posted on the Friendship United Methodist Church web page.
Continue to keep the prayer list near you and pray for those whose names are on it. Let us know of any prayer requests you have by contacting Bonnie Sandberg via email at brstrainer@gmail.com.
